(July 13, 2009) - Mayor Robert J. Duffy is pleased to announce the release of 2,500 additional MusicFest tickets. Limited additional free tickets can be picked up beginning Wednesday, July 15, 10 a.m., at the following locations:

• Crego Realty Group: 383 Park Ave. 

• Diamond International: 110 Lake Ave.  

• Honey Child Production: 497 Chili Ave.  

• Mad Flavors: 185 Lyell Ave.

• McDonald’s: 275 Upper Falls Blvd. 

• Rochester Pawn Brokers: 559 State St.  

• Sensuous Satiables: 554 Chili Ave. 

• Taylor’s: 3300 Monroe Ave. 

• Xquisite Boutique: 179 Monroe Ave 

This year the concert will return to its original center city home—Brown Square Park— from 1 to 10 p.m. (concert begins 2 p.m.), Sat., July 18 for its15th annual engagement. The day-long event spotlights world-class headliners and regional best performers whose styles and messages promise to bring the soul of America to the doorsteps of Rochester!

National headliners on Saturday include such greats as multi-million platter performer KC and the Sunshine Band, Hip Hop artists Tony! Toni! Toné, Hip Hop dance culture guru Freedom Williams, R&B Motown-fame KEM, platinum singer/songwriter BUZ, R&B group Silk and Reggae artist Ms Triniti. Local groups include Rochester’s popular Latin jazz group, the Mambo Kings and gospel group Divine Nature.      

To rev concert-goers for the blockbuster 175 Rochester MusicFest on Saturday, the City will also sponsor a special FREE MusicFest Kickoff concert (No tickets will be required) on Friday night, July 17 in Brown Square Park from 6:30 to 10 p.m.—gates open at 5 p.m. Featured will be top-chart headliner Morris Day and The Time, a popular R&B concert draw since the late 90s. Also on the docket will be choice regional talent, Prime Time Funk (10-piece Rhythm & Funk Band) and Fama sin Gafas (10-piece Salsa Band) and more.     

The city of Rochester is the presenting sponsor for the 175 Rochester MusicFest and the Friday evening kickoff.   

Producer for Saturday’s 175 Rochester MusicFest is Ed Strickland/Loretta Pressley (NSUC Entertainment).  Additional corporate support is provided by Verizon, Strathallan, Woodcliff Hotel and Spa, Enterprise Rental Car, 568 East Main, SMG Management, WDKX-104 FM and 95.1 THE FOX (Brother Wease), AIRTRAN AIRWAYS, McDonald’s Restaurant (Upper Falls Blvd.), S & S Limousines, WPXY-98 FM, WJZR-105.9 FM.

FESTIVAL GUIDELINES FOR BOTH FRI., JULY 17 & SAT., JULY 18  

For the comfort and safety of everyone:  

• Please, no bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates or pets allowed inside the Brown Square Park   

• Concert-goers may bring blankets or lawn chairs (no chaise lounges). 

• No beach umbrellas will be allowed (in respect for audience sight-lines).

• No alcoholic beverages, glass bottles or metal cans may be carried into the concert area.   Plastic drink containers only. 

SATURDAY ONLY:  

• Patrons may bring picnic baskets (plastic tableware only) and coolers (plastic container drinks   only) or purchase food and drink from one of many food vendors. 

FRIDAY ONLY: 

• Patrons may bring in ONLY one sealed bottle of water.  

PARKING 

Parking will be available for a fee in nearby lots and on the street.
